I want to be carbon dated.  I’m starting to question whether I’m actually twenty-two years old.  I’ve believed it for so long, but the more that I’ve learned the more ridiculous it seems to claim that I’m only twenty-two.  I don’t remember my birth or even the first couple ‘years’ of my life.  I’m going to need some real empirical evidence to convince me that I’m twenty-two.

If I had to guess, I would say I’m closer to 22 million years old.  Once I carbon date myself, I’m sure that my theory will be proven correct.  It’s irrational to believe that 23 years ago there was nothing – no Tyler.  And now, after 22 years here I am, in full complexity.  I can’t wait to see how complex I will be at ‘44’!

I would get to start eating first every year at the family reunion.  On the down side, I definitely should’ve started putting money into my IRA a LOT earlier.  100$ a month at 8% for 22 million years – I’d be able to afford a girlfriend, maybe even a wife!

Anyways, that’s enough about this.  I’m getting tired.  My sleep pattern got all out of whack once I figured out that I was this old.

Tyler, what in the world? Is this supposed to be an argument for creationism or something? I get it – you don’t trust carbon dating… right?

I just though I’d comment to let you know that people actually read your blog.. by the way – come home!

  2. Well, here’s the thing. I’m going to come home tomorrow, and no, I don’t trust carbon dating. For some reason I just started thinking about how I need to carbon date myself, and I decided to write about it – that’s all. It’s good to know that people read this thing!

Perhaps you are as old as time itself. Who is to say that every soul that ever was or will be was not present from the first moment of Gods creative word. Who is to say that every son and daughter of Adam , their soul was not present at the instant of his creation. If God knew you before you were in your mothers womb, how long was that foreknowledge of God? Was it a second, a day, a year, a thousand years, a million years, a trillion years or more. No Tyler you are beyond the ability of carbon dating for your soul has been present since God was, and forever shall be. Prickett.

I’m glad that you can see through my seemingly facetious post and find some applicable philosophy. I often wonder about the origin of the soul, and I think I agree with you. I believe the soul is likely eternal (at least one that is given to God), and not just eternal as far as future but past as well.

By the way, this may be a silly question, but what do you mean by ‘prickett’?

Prickett is a name on MySpace and that I use on the web. A prickett is the small steel spike in candlestick bases to keep the candle from falling. The calling on my life is to support those to whom God has given the ability to be a light to draw the lost to Himself.
